Bankruptcy Lawyer with Offices in Surprise and Glendale, Arizona
Comprehensive Counsel with Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Filings
When you are struggling to meet your financial obligations, a personal bankruptcy filing under Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 of the Bankrutpcy Code may be what you need to get a fresh financial start. You can discharge most obligations or restructure your debt into more affordable payments while putting a stop to harassing phone calls, letters and legal action by your creditors.
At the Dodds Law Firm, PLC, I provide comprehensive representation to people throughout Maricopa County who are considering a personal bankruptcy filing. I believe that all people are entitled to the benefits and protections afforded by state and federal laws, including the bankruptcy statutes.
Before entering the legal profession, I spent 28 years as an educator, 14 years as a district superintendent. As a result, I know how to listen carefully and how to clearly explain the law, the process and your options so that you can make the right decision.

My Personal Bankruptcy Practice
When you retain me to help you with a bankruptcy issue, my first course of action will be to help you determine whether or not you qualify to discharge debts with a Chapter 7 filing. Under the recent revisions to the bankruptcy laws, you must qualify for a Chapter 7 filing by completing a "means test," whereby you demonstrate to the bankruptcy court that you lack the means to repay your debts over a 3 to 5 year period.
I will walk you through the means test and, if you are eligible to file under Chapter 7, I will prepare all the documentation required to initiate and complete the process. I will also act as your advocate in your creditors hearing, with the bankruptcy trustee and the court.
If you do not qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing, you can still stop the harassing phone calls and letters with a Chapter 13 petition. Under Chapter 13, we will create a repayment plan that restructures your debt into affordable payments over a 3 to 5 year period. At the end of the repayment period, any remaining unsecured debt will be discharged. I will discuss what all of this means to you as well as what is the best bankruptcy option for your personal financial situation.
